Download one of the following or XBMC and Transversity, VLC or Trancode 360 all Freeware (O Yes make sure you grab a copy of Navi-x.zip (leave it zipped) for XBMC it add most of the kewl functions (90%) ie Sho Cin Max Spike and 200 other similar channels in over 20 languages. You can then transcode on the fly (there is a kool DLNA dual web server one flash 1 java that works as a remote control (top 1/4) and a play center on the botom 3/4 via Wifi. For example I have Logitec Google TV hooked to my 50" plasma via its HDMI port. It locks on via
http://192.168.10.20:8080 (a colon followed by numbers are just refer to a port other than the standard port 80 that 99.999 percent of web servers run on. You can change this if need be. Make sure UPNP is on in your Wifi. Then it will
appear on all your wifi`ed
computers and or media boxes that have DLNA If uve never used DLNA its like any other web server only you dont have to do a bunch of port forwarding and if an address changes its no big deal your client will find it in its rediscover mode. O Yes. In 2008 I have no idea how Netflix did it but now in 2011 they let you have 5
devices that can play netflix. You must register each device. For example I have my two
ipod touches plus I have a Sony 24" Google TV and
2 Blue ray players and
2 Boxees
call with Netflix. Each device (wifi adapter, you could have
2 or more on one laptop so be careful to use thesame exact laptop wifi adapter if you
view on your laptop. Otherwise it can count your extras as to many.
But all devices (adapters have a MAC number it looks like this 00:4j:3d:45:02:1d (six set of case sensitive numbers that are recoded into yr
account when you first
sign into Netflix. There is an area in your Netflix
login area where you can manage (delete and add the ones you no longer need or now need) its easier to wait if your going to add one and let netflix figure the mac rather than enter the numbers as one can mistake a O for and 0 Zero and Ohhhh can make or break a connection acceptance. Anyway most of us want need more than 5
devices. I am a bit suprised that my 7
devices are accepted since they have a 5 limit maybe they have a buffer when you have been with them for a long
time or they see that your MAC from your DSL Wifi adapter is always the same they know your home or at your usual place and allow using. So no mistery. Your web browser feeds the netflix data like your operating system your browser version and a bunch other data but the most important or the security related data is the MAC addresses. Worse case scenario let say you are at a budies and you want to watch a movie on HIS laptop or
computer box or blue ray or whatever device. Y might already be at your limit. Its up to you to go into the management area of your Netflix
account and delete (I cant remember if there is an enable and disable option so you can keep it on record without deleting entirely. Anyway you will either delete or unenable the oldest adapter (Usually the one you need least) and bingo netflix allows your buddies adapters MAC address acces netflix. REMEMBER TO DELETE HIS ADAPTER`S MAC address when you guys finish your
viewing of the evening or weekend. get my drift.
My guess is Netflix doesnt want you using more than 1
view of a movie at a
time but this has n ot been my experiance again I have ALL my MAC addreses in my list Lets say I may 1 hour into movie XYZ and I want to go to bed and watch the last 45 minutes in the bedroom. I can pause netflix to see where I am,
open up the same movie in the bedroom and it will start streaming proabably because Im usually b ut not always going through the same DSL router (I have IFITL aka Fiber optic) and it knows I am the rightfull owner of the requester of the movie. I have resumed playing the XYZ movie in the living room until I am pretty close to where I want to resume then I paause the bedroom TV (or device) walk to the living room exit the XYZ movie and exit from netflix ie usually just turn of the blue ray or roku ox or ROKU I was watching. Keep in mind much of the providers use a similar MAC inventory system to track your
devices.
Now if you have 3 different Wifi routers with 3 new MAC addreses trying to
login and watch a movie with your user name and password well it aint going to work. If that was the case people would sell 7
accounts for $2 each and make money to boot where Netflix would have to stream to a bunch of folk that aint going to let that happen give me a break. Two viewers at same
time is about max again as long as all MAC addresses have been recorded on your device manage area. Well I webt way overboard explaining this I hope it helps.
