Average roofing costs vary from 40 to 100 per square foot. It is cheaper if you have a one story house with a low pitch roof and more if your house is a two-story with a higher pitch (slope). Asphalt shingles cost the least and only last about 15 to 20 years. Metal roofing and concrete tiles cost more and, of course, last longer. Call a roofing company over to give you an estimate. Actually, call three roofing companies and get 3 estimates.

It depends on how elaborate you want to go. Prices can run as low as $90/sq. ft. or as high as $200+/sq. ft. This would include everything-foundation, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, exterior finish, roofing, drywall, painting, and trim. Your best bet is to draw up some sketches for what you want done. It would be very helpful if you had a copy of the plan for your existing house. Talk to a few contractors and show them what you want done. Compare the bids carefully to ensure they are bidding on exactly the same work. Ask for and check references. Once you decide to go, hire the one you feel most comfortable with. Remember, the low bid is not necessarily the best. Hope this helps.

Tear off of old shingles vs leaving them (like you want) - If you only have 1 layer on your roof most (not all) places will allow that, a quick call to your local building inspector can confirm that. You have 1, 300 sq ft house and that means about 1,500 square foot roof. or 15 square of shingles required at between $39.00 to 75.00 a square, ($585 - $1,125) Instalation will vary area to area but count on at least $800 for labor (if no tear off). Plus ridge cap and any gutter work. Hopee this helped.

doing it is labor intensive but actually quite easy to do. not sure about per foot cost from a pro but you could do it yourself for far less than what they would charge since you would be doing all the work, and not them. you know how labor jacks up anything price related. simply strip off all shingles and nails, remove old tar paper, lay down new tar paper, start brad nailing shingles from the bottom up (might wanna rent a nail gun for this) and keep going until done. not really hard. but again it is labor intensive.
